Monday April 14, 2014 Red Tulips

Last year Stephen said he wanted tulips.  We decided to use the three-sided fenced in area along the rear steps because the deer shouldn't come that close to the house - or so we hoped.

Stephen picked 50 bulbs of bright red tulips, and when they arrived he planted them.  This is sort of his first garden.

By mid-April they all opened and we had a glorious shock of red in his garden.

They lasted for weeks, and the deer, in spite of a bad winter, never touched them.

We got 4 free pinkish-white snowball tulips and they bloomed nicely as well:
