Wednesday May 14, 2014 blue clematis, rosaceae Cotoneaster, rhododendron, pulmonaria, peony

Lots of new and continuing garden news today.

The blue clematis which was planted in the ornamental grass patch two years ago is blooming!  I hope it will climb the garden obelisk.

I believe this thorny tree is a rosaceae Cotoneaster.  We trimmed it back significantly last winter and it seems just fine.  In the spring it has clusters of white flowers and in the fall it has clusters of orange/red berries which the birds devour.

Several year ago I threw wild flower seeds into the North-side soil.  We don't usually tend this side and just let things grow wild.  Along with some wild flowers, we also found two rhododendron plants which the dear didn't totally eat!

And finally, it seems like the peony buds are starting to burst open.
