Jim Henderson flew down for his annual visit, but the weather didn't cooperate this year - at both ends of his trip.  His flight down from Chicago was cancelled and when he did get

here the next day, Lynchburg greeted him with open rainy arms.  Never at a loss for words, the three of us had no problem passing the time until his last full day when the sun came out and we set out for the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Peaks of Otter.

Our first stop along the parkway was a pull over with large rocks and

a great view of the Shenandoah Valley.

We continued on to Peaks of Otter, which are three mountain peaks
surrounding
Abbott
Lake.  There are cabins, hiking trails, and a lodge.  After stopping in the lodge, we took a walk around the lake.  After that,

Stephen and Jim
hiked another trail while Walter went back to the lodge and sat in a rocking chair.  A delightful time was had by all.

Jim flew back to Chicago the next day.
