September 6, 2013

Today we took a scenic trip west of Lynchburg to the Allegheny Mountains.  Took Rt. 501 to the Blue Ridge Parkway, went North to Rt. 60, and West to Lexington.  From Lexington we took Rt. 39 along the Maury River to Rt. 39 42 Northwest to the Cowpasture River and Rt. 39 to Warm Springs.
The drive along the Maury and Cowpasture Rivers was particularly beautiful.  This is a wonderful area to pull over and cool off in the water.
From Warm Springs we took Rt. 220 South toward Covington.  About 5 miles North of Covington there is a pull off allowing a magnificent view of Falling Springs Waterfall.

We were lucky
to run across
another couple who
were glad to take
our picture
together!

From Covington we took Rt. 60 to Rt. 501 and home.  It was a long day but absolutely perfect for a ride in our roadster, rag top down, and scenic roads all the way.  We plan on returning and spending some time in that part of Virginia.
