The most amazing thing happened. The Supreme Court of the United States struck down state bans on same-sex marriage. In a 5-4 decision, SCOTUS gave same-sex couples the right to marry in any state of the country!
The right became effective shortly after ten o'clock this morning!
The act of getting married isn't as important as obtaining all the rights and privileges which are granted through marriage. I actually prefer that all levels of government get out of the marriage business, but that ain't gonna happen in my life-time. For now, at least same-sex couples have the same rights to marriage as different-sex couples. It's a start...and I emphasize the word
