Fresh garden flowers on the kitchen table.
The picture on the wall is by Gay Tucker, a local Lynchburg artist. She is a member of the Academy of Fine Arts and was the very first artist we met since moving down here. We saw this piece hanging on the wall during intermission of a performance by the Opera On The James. We bought it on the spot! The subject of the work is a customer sitting at the Dahlia bar. Behind the bartender is the signature blue neon Dahlia sign. The Dahlia, originally named the Blue Dahlia in homage to the 1946 film, has been around since 1947, in one incarnation or another. It is small (less than 10 tables), has a big bar, and fantastic food. We both really enjoy eating there.
