We walked over to the National Gallery & on our way, I sat down in front of a huge sculpture called "Delta Solar", by Alejandro Otero in 1977, located outside of the National Air and Space Museum. The sculpture, whose stainless steel sails rotate in the breeze, sits in a reflecting pool.
Upon arrival at the National Gallery, Stephen wants his picture with the large bronze, "Isoult", 1926, by Edward McCartan. Isoult is another spelling for Isolde, the eventual wife and short lived widow of Tristan.
What we really wanted to see was an exhibit of Cézanne Portraits, a retrospective of some 60 works amassed from private and public collections worldwide. It was a wonder to see all these works brought together, especially the pieces from private collections. Walter wants his picture taken with Cézanne's wife, Hortense Fiquet.
